My Story

I grew up and still live in the South Hills of Pittsburgh. My 3 older brothers and I attended Pittsburgh Public Schools. As the younger only sister, I did a lot of play on my own which included playing school so I knew I wanted to be an educator early on. I went to Point Park University for my bachelors degree, Duquesne University for my masters degree and did my Principal’s Program at Indiana University of Pennsylvania. I am married to my husband Kevin and have two daughters and two grandsons.

My Career Story

A year after graduating Point Park University, I began working as a preschool teacher then a second grade teacher for Manchester Youth Development Center’s Training Wheels program. During my third year of teaching, the school received a charter and became Manchester Academic Charter School (MACS). I continued to teach second grade for the next 3 years. Next, I was promoted to being Assistant Principal then Principal. I retired from MACS after 24 years in July 2022. One of my favorite parts of being a School Administrator was working with teachers in classrooms. I look forward to continuing this practice with System 1-2-3.
