My Story

I was born and have lived within an hour of Pittsburgh my entire life. I am the youngest of 9 children and am forever thankful for older siblings, parents by choice, neighbors, teachers, childhood friends and professional mentors for being part of the village that showed up for me and helped to shape the person and professional I strive to be. I have 2 wonderfully strong-willed adult children and am married to an amazing Canadian. Our family also includes a senior Lab named Gracie, a spirited Lab pup named Maya and a mellow Grand-Lab named Maverick.

I love learning, but am not fond of reading, audiobooks are my best friend. My favorite authors are pioneers in the field of all things developmental and relational! Some of my most recent favorites: Beyond Behaviors, Mona Delahooke, PhD

For me, the beach is one of the most relaxing and recharging places. I also love the outdoors and exploring new places.

“There is always light. If only we’re brave enough to see it. If only we’re brave enough to be it.”
—Amanda Gorman

My Career Story

I entered college as an Elementary Education major. My first semester I spent a week in a 2nd grade classroom, where my attention and heart were captured by 2 students whose unspoken language had me wanting to understand something more. I quickly switched my major to Social Work and that has proven to be the place that I ‘fit’. I have worked within the Mental Health field in a variety of roles for my entire career. Much of my training and experience postgraduate has been focused on Complex Developmental Trauma, Attachment and Early Relational Health.

I joined System 1-2-3 as an Early Childhood Mental Health Specialist to continue to facilitate resilience and build resiliency partners for children, families, care providers and community partners. My passion and commitment to early relational health and overall wellbeing keeps me striving to promote change within our current child serving systems. Science clearly supports the benefits for individuals and relational health when people and relationships are engaged early in development and supported within the ‘dance’ of early and often serve and return interactions. NOW to shift the Lens of understanding in as many places as possible!!
